Michael McMullen, or Mikey, as he was known by all who loved him, brought a unique energy to the world. He was a joy to be around. Sadly, despite his own tremendous effort, and the love and support of many, he was unable to overcome serious mental illness, and we lost him in the spring of 2010. More than anything, we wish Mikey to be remembered as someone who cared deeply for his loved ones and who was extraordinarily devoted to his family and close friends. His compassion and loyalty, sensitive heart, ready smile and laughter, and the creativity Mikey brought to his art and music are missed by all who knew and loved him.

After completing high school in 2004, Mikey attended Evergreen State College in Washington, and Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. In 2007, he moved to Boston to study at the New England School of Photography where he became a skilled and passionate artist with an interest in photographing urban architecture and nature. In his last years of life, whether exploring the streets of Boston or Manhattan, hiking through woods and along rocky coastlines, or just walking down Kirkwood Avenue in his hometown, Mikey’s camera was always at his side.

The Michael McMullen Photography Fund has been established to honor Mikey’s life and work. Please click on the tab “Donate” at the top of the page to find out more.
